What is the best way to go about finding a scent (perfume or cologne) that you like?

I like my choices and have a very very keen sense of smell. My hubby says he can't smell me... I just smell ';clean.'; Well. CLEAN doesn't AROUSE a man! Should I ask him to ask people whose scents he LIKES what they wear (we're secure, don't worry), should I send him to the fragrance counter, what what? I have a fixation on scents, but my main goal NOW is to find something he cannot resist. He resists the scents I THOUGHT he liked and that just ain't cutting it. Help me! You have to try the scent on before you buy. The different scents will take on their own unique smell when mixed with your bodies own chemistry. What smells good in the bottle or on a tester card won't always smell good on you, or the reverse. Each perfume smells different from woman to woman, so don't go with what smells great on your best friend or a female co-worker.





Go to a perfume counter, or where ever there are tester bottles available. Talk to the woman behind the counter for suggestions. Tell her that you prefer light, clean scents. Your husband prefers stronger, more seductive perfumes. Get her to suggest which ones aren't too heavy, but still have enough fragrance to get noticed.


You'll probably have better luck with natural perfume than synthetic, i.e. florals, ambers, or Orientals, they tend to blend better on our skin. Woody, leathers, and musky scents usually smell better on men. Citrus scents are the fresher scents, probably what you are using now. They aren't that strong, or compelling.





How to test:


Spray a small (one spritz or dab) on the inside of your arm. Wait a minute or two to let it dry, warm on the skin, and blend with your body's own natural smell. Then sniff to see if you like it. Since you are shopping to please him, take him along with you and get his opinion. Wear a short sleeve or sleeveless shirt when you go. You may end up trying many scents on yourself, and need as much area to work with as possible. You may have perfumes sprayed on both arms from the wrist to above the elbow before you are through. Make sure NOT to spray scents on top of each other.

before buying a bottle of perfume...you need to get samples. Our skin has a chemical that sends off a human scent..sometimes mixing it with the chemicals in perfumes can be a very displeasing effect. Do not buy a perfume that you est on those little cards...again the chemicals in the paper change the scent. try to but scents with a floral or earthy tones in it...since our bodies reflect better to the natural elements...
