Can the leaves of roses be extracted and used to make a rose scented perfume for a science fair project?

My daughter is in the 4th grade and it is mandatory for her to compete in the Science Fair. The topic she picked is apparently pretty difficult. Her topic is she wants to try and take rose petals and make perfume that is rose scented. I need to find research on it, materials needed to make this project possible, and the steps takin to execute the project. Can the leaves of roses be extracted and used to make a rose scented perfume for a science fair project?

you need to pass steam throgh the petals to pick up the oil then distill this oil and water to colect it this is done in a reasonably complicated piece of glassware but it should be easily done in a school lab and the process should be easily found in a chemistry book u should probably avoid trying to make up this apparatus at home as it would be dangerous without the proper lab apparatus as pressure would build up
i know that a dried rose petal crushed and a scented oil added makes a good smelling mud sort of thing. and if you add dried, crushed up clay with it it is even cooler. you can smudge it on stuff and it will harden and smell good. i had alot of time on my hands when i was a teen ager.
they also make great tasting tea delicacy here in china
